4 Way to Testing the Clinical Symptoms of Cat FIP

Whether it is a human or pets, for long lives healthy body is very necessary. In terms of pets, if they are unhealthy and suffer from any type of disease then they not able to tell you. In that case, if you are regularly are a regular parent your cats then you need to properly take care of your cat and give them healthy supplements and proteins.

On the other side, these days there are many cats are suffering from Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). It is a type of virus or inflammatory issue that spreads through the body’s organs. It is also known as coronavirus deadly disease. The resulting global inflammation leads to the failure of the infiltrated organs, fevers unresponsive to antibiotics, and often an accumulation of thick yellow fluid in the belly or chest.

Mainly FIP is of two types: “Dry” and “Wet” but has different Clinical Symptoms of Cat FIP. Yes, the “wet” form of FIP includes the thick, yellow fluid as noted. The “dry” form is more insidious, leading to death over a much longer period. Both forms are felt to have 100% mortality. The main problem of this disease is that once a cat has been infected with the virus and recovered, the cat can be easily re-infected by continued exposure to infected feces.

Now most of you think how to test this deadly disease in cats then here are few types of tests are considered below:

Let’s Dive In!
The first phase - Elevations in Total Protein and Gamma Globulins:

In this test, the doctors can be checked the value of total serum protein. Cats with FIP commonly have high serum protein levels. Generally, there are many types of protein cells are available in the blood so, to examine the antibody levels of cells this test is necessary. If a blood panel is checked on a cat with FIP, serum protein is often divided into albumin and globulin amounts. Moreover, if the total protein level is higher than your cat is 100% suffering from this deadly disease.

The second phase - Albumin to Globulin Ratio:

If your cat has FIP then it is not only elevated globulin levels but it also tends to decrease albumin levels. Albumin is an important carrier protein in the blood and one’s body tends to conserve it at all costs. If your cat losing protein named enteropathy then it leads to liver failure. All these conditions can occur with FIP. Moreover, if albumin is less than 0.8 then there is a 92% statistical chance that the cat has FIP. If the ratio is greater than your cat does not have FIP.

Third phase - Testing the Belly/Chest Fluids:

FIP classically produces a clear but viscous yellow effusion in the belly but also in the chest or sometimes in both locations. It occurs when the fluid protein level is more than 3.5mg/dl. To know the exact level of the FIP amount a diagnostic test could be performed. If the amount of fluid lactate dehydrogenase than there your cat has FIP.

Fourth phase – PCR Testing:

PCR testing is an extremely sensitive method for detecting DNA, in this case, coronavirus DNA. It is a test to analyze the percentage of FIP. The supposition that benign coronavirus messenger RNA cannot be found in the bloodstream has been challenged, however. While this may come down to a matter of how much messenger RNA can be detected in which situations, this test is very new and is still controversial.
